Classroom Management Beliefs
At the heart of this Classroom Management Plan are the following core principles of my teaching philosophy:
· Respect – both between students and the teacher
· Responsibility – in behavior and learning
· A Safe environment – both emotionally and physically
· Dignity – treating students consistently and fairly
· Engaging and relevant learning opportunities
My philosophy of classroom management:
I believe that all students should be treated with respect and treated fairly. In school there should be respect both between the students and the teachers. I believe that the goal of classroom management is not to eliminate all misbehavior, but to teach students to be responsible for their actions and decisions. I plan to base my management on the Love and Logic idea that provides students with choices and natural consequences for their actions.
I believe that school should be an emotionally and physically safe place for all students where they are treated with dignity and engaged in relevant learning opportunities. I plan to use Curwin and Mendler’s Model of Discipline with Dignity in order to praise students in front of their peers and avoid shaming students in front of other students.
My goals of classroom management:
· Teach students to be responsible for their actions and decisions
· Create a safe environment in which students can share and question
· Create an atmosphere where engaging and relevant learning takes place
